In last nights debate Barack Obama said that if al-Quaida was to establish bases in Iraq after we retreat he would send our troops back in. So let me get this right. Barack Obama is going to withdraw all our equipment and personal at the cost of hundreds of millions of dollars after all the hard fought battles our troops have won. Then if al-Quaida tries to set up bases in Iraq he would spend tens of millions to send our troops back to fight all over again.
Is it just me or is this one of the nuttiest things you've ever heard of. First of all al-Quaida is already in Iraq. We have lost hundreds of America's best to fight al-Quaida in Iraq. So why on earth would you declare defeat and then declare war again. If we leave Iraq our country will be so defeated there's no way that we would ever return to fight al-Quaida.
Our nations creditability is at stake here. We have spent years building up the trust of local Iraqis. In the Arab world you are only as good as your word. And our country has told the Iraqi people we will be there for them. Their leaders have put their lives on the line because we promised them that America is an honorable country and we'll protect them from al-Quaida. And now we're telling these same people that we're going to leave them and their families to the tender mercies of these blood thirsty men. What a total disgrace.
